More University of Oregon students are choosing to study business than ever before.
A record-breaking freshmen class is entering the business school this fall, as part of the second-largest class overall in UO history.
These 1,163 business and pre-business Ducks make up 23 percent of this fall’s incoming students—a new record for the college.
The University of Oregon reports the 148th incoming class (Class of 2027) is the second largest and most diverse ever and includes representatives from “every county in Oregon, all 50 states, and 90 other countries.” It also counts the largest number of Oregonians in the university’s history.
“Whether you choose accounting, entrepreneurship, finance, marketing, operations and business analytics, or sports business, the business college provides a mix of proven fundamentals and fresh voices direct from the industry—all with staff support to guide students to achieving their academic goals,” said Bruce Blonigen, Edward Maletis Dean of the Lundquist College.
More than half of all incoming UO students have already earned some college credit during high school. Hopeful business and accounting students in that category are well-positioned to accelerate the timeline of obtaining a degree with our first-year direct admission program. After applying to the university, high school seniors are selected for direct admission based on test scores, GPA, course rigor, and other factors. Accepted direct-admission students bypass declaring as pre-business majors and having to wait until junior year to apply for full major status after meeting pre-requisites.
